SUMMARY:

Provide NAVCO Sales personnel with skilled system design services & technical assistance to varying degrees of depth, based on the Salesperson’s role, knowledge and experience.

Insure that system designs meet NAVCO standards of format, completeness, and accuracy resulting in accurate quotation, efficient handling, and error-free installation while minimizing change orders and safeguarding profitability.

Assist the Director of Technology & System Design in the selection & review of Vendor product lines, technical capabilities, and records creation/upkeep, in support of producing accurate quotations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide primary system design support & continuing technical education for NAVCO’s Security Consultants & Regional Account Managers (SCs/RAMs), working on Surveillance, Access, and Alarm projects.

a. Based on customer requirements as uncovered by & in cooperation with the SC/RAM, review site survey information, select relevant product brands and models, determine device quantities/locations, plan cable routing, summarize materials lists, and compose Scope-of-Work information.

b. Coordinate pre-sale drawing creation & markup with the Drafting Department to improve accuracy & maximize efficient use of resources.

c. Review design documentation for accuracy, completeness, & standards compliance prior to transfer to Sales Support for data entry or Operations review.

2. Assist NAVCO’s National Account Managers (NAMs/RAMs) on complex and/or largescale Surveillance, Alarm, and Access Control projects which are beyond the NAM’s expected level of technical expertise.

a. Advise, educate, & assist the NAM as appropriate with regard to complex-project product selection, equipment location diagram detailing, scope-of-work & technical document creation, and other NAVCO design requirements to ensure production of accurate, installable designs which meet company standards.

b. Review finished NAM designs and documentation when requested/required, checking and adjusting for completeness and accuracy prior to submittal for Operations approval, proposal submittal, or transfer to Sales Support for data entry.

REQUIREMENTS:

KEY PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:
• Broad and up-to-date knowledge of the brands, products and technologies utilized in the Electronic Physical Security industry for commercial/industrial/retail installations, including Ethernet/WiFi data networking, video, audio, alarm and access control technologies
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience servicing or installing complex Surveillance, Alarm and Access systems

OR

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience designing and documenting complex Surveillance, Alarm and Access systems
• Minimum of 3 years’ (concurrent) experience directly servicing customers in a technical or technical-sales role
• Superior communications skills; ablity to explain complex technical concepts simply and concisely in written, spoken, and graphical formats
• Excellent organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be capable of setting and meeting deadlines, managing multiple projects at once, analyzing and prioritizing workload
• Experience with technical CAD/CAA software (AutoCAD, Visio, TurboCAD or similar) is a plus, but not required


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. Ability to clearly sketch/depict complex system device interconnections, building floorplan layouts, for use by others.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, quantity, capacity, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to comprehend and analyze drawings, diagrams and relationships as described by others.
